About Our Founder
Alma Cigana is the founder of Alma Yoga Ashram and an enthusiastic teacher of traditional hatha yoga.
Alma Cigna means gypsy soul. Alma got this name because he traveled around the world for 9 years teaching yoga and learning more about himself (self-inquiry), life, and functioning of the mind. This experience led him to spirituality in a deeper way.
The word “Alma” means Soul in English and in Sanskrit it is called ” Atma”.
Atma (soul)” Thus his name implies that he is one and the same to every being.
Alma came to know many yoga disciplines such as Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin yoga, and Sivananda yoga, but deep inside he had always been searching for the reality of life and its mysteries.
Apart from having a natural flair for the science of life and its mysteries, Alma has completed a Yogic science post-graduation Diploma and his YTTC 200 and 300 hours in Sivananda to document his credentials in Yoga Teaching. Additionally, he has completed an AYTTC 500 hr Yoga therapy course and 200 hr Ashtanga and yin yoga. He completed many YTTC from different schools to deeper his understanding of yoga and identified more ways of teaching to help students. Alma completed Ayurveda 1 year diploma course, He combines Ayurveda and yoga together, which is very helpful for the students to get a deeper understanding of yoga.
Furthermore, as he grew into his knowledge and experience, he taught Yoga at many Yoga schools in India. His classes are loved by people from all age groups. He got the chance to visit Europe many times where he conducted several Yoga wellness retreats and Yoga workshops which brought to him international experience. Alma traveled to more than 25 countries, sharing knowledge, and helping others. He is naturally gifted in Hatha Yoga and his experience is growing deeper in other branches of Yoga for his well-being as an individual and as a Yoga Teacher.
